Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy

Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy uses music, sound, and gentle vibration to add another layer of relaxation to a massage session. At this time, we use the inHarmony sound table as part of hands-on massage therapy rather than as a stand-alone sound session.

During your massage, the table allows you to both hear and feel the music through gentle vibration. This can help the session feel more immersive, calming, and easier to settle into.

    What Is Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy?

Vibroacoustic Therapy, often called VAT, uses audible sound and vibration together. The inHarmony sound table uses speakers and tactile transducers to turn music into both an auditory and physical experience. In other words, you hear the music and also feel the vibration through the table.

The vibration is connected to the low-frequency parts of the music, creating a gentle sound-and-vibration experience while you rest on the table. You do not need to meditate, concentrate, or do anything special. You can simply receive your massage and let the sound and vibration support the experience.

How Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy Is Used in Massage

Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy may be included when it supports the flow of the massage. It can be especially nice at the beginning of a session, when you are arriving and settling in, or near the end when the body has already started to relax.

The sound table may be used during Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Reiki-informed work, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, or another integrative massage. It is not meant to replace hands-on work. It is one more tool that can be added when it fits the session.

Some tracks feel deeply restful. Others may feel more spacious, uplifting, or meditative. The track choice, volume, and vibration level can be adjusted for comfort.

    What Does It Feel Like?

Most clients describe the experience as gentle, soothing, and immersive. The vibration may feel like a soft pulsing, humming, or wave-like sensation through the table.

Some people stay awake and notice the sound, vibration, and sensations in the body. Others drift into a relaxed state or fall asleep. There is no right way to experience it.

If the music or vibration feels too strong, too soft, or not quite right, it can be adjusted.

Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy may be a good fit if you:

    • Want your session to feel more immersive
    • Prefer a calming, sensory-based addition to bodywork
