Mayan Abdominal Therapy

“Where the blood goes, oxygen flows.” – Dr. Rosita Arvigo

Mayan Abdominal Therapy is a gentle, external abdominal therapy protocol rooted in traditional Belizean healing practices and refined through the work of Dr. Rosita Arvigo and her studies with Don Elijio Panti.

This work uses respectful, hands-on abdominal and pelvic techniques to support circulation, lymphatic flow, digestive function, pelvic balance, and nervous system regulation. Rather than forcing the body, the work encourages softening, mobility, and a greater sense of connection through the abdomen, pelvis, low back, and core.

Practitioner training and lineage

Melissa was trained through the Abdominal Therapy Collective, the organization that carries forward and sanctions this work under the guidance of Rosita Arvigo.

“This is not a generic ‘fertility massage,’ but a specific abdominal therapy protocol taught through a formal training program. The work is simple, but profound. Whether the full protocol is performed or only part of it is woven into a session, most clients feel an immediate difference — their body softens, they are able to receive deeper work, and there is often a noticeable increase in vitality.”

Benefits of Mayan Abdominal Massage for all bodies

Clients often seek Mayan Abdominal Therapy for support with digestive tension, bloating, constipation, abdominal restriction, low back tension, hip or sacral discomfortstress and guarding held in the belly, postpartum abdominal and pelvic support, menstrual discomfort, pelvic heaviness, reproductive wellness, or fertility support as part of a broader care plan.

Although this work is often associated with women’s reproductive health, abdominal therapy can also be supportive for men and all genders. Both men and women may seek this work for digestive issues, low back and hip tension, pelvic floor tension, core restriction, postural holding patterns, stress held in the abdomen, or a general sense of disconnection from the center of the body.
